Casa Loma, dubbed “The People’s Castle”, is one of Canada’s most famous historic sites – and the only “castle” in Toronto (Ontario)…it’s also home to a few spirits! Casa Loma is one of our exclusive locations for tours, and Sold Out special events, educational seminars and investigations – and has been since 2009. We are very thankful to the City of Toronto, Staff & Management of this wonderful location for allowing us the privilege to represent them, and for their continued assistance in allowing us access to many of the castle’s secrets! It truly is the “Crown Jewel” of Toronto.
The former home of Canadian financier Sir Henry Pellatt, Canada’s foremost castle is complete with decorated suites, secret passages, an 800-foot tunnel, towers, stables, and beautiful 5-acre estate garden. In 1911, armed with a fortune of $17 million, Sir Henry drew up plans with Canadian architect E.J. Lennox to build his dream castle. Casa Loma took three years and $3.5 million to build. Sir Henry Pellatt filled it with artwork from Canada and around the world. With soaring battlements and secret passageways, it paid homage to the castles and knights of days gone by.

I have spent quite a bit of time in that house, known as The Hunting Lodge. This of course is where Sir Henry and Lady Mary resided while The Stables, and the Casa Loma were being constructed! Had a few experiences happen in there to say the least!
I went to castle Loma around 10 years ago. When I was in the tunnel to the stable I saw a man in a black suit wearing a top-hat and carrying an umbrella. He looked back at me and my friends and kept walking. When we got to the stable he was no where to be found. I was always get chills whenever I think about it. Definitely want to go back and see if I can see any more sitings.
Kendra,
thanks so much for sharing this experience with us…..I would like to add it to the tour……other people have picked up on a tall man….the management thought it may have been EJ Lennox, friend of Sir Henry’s, and also the Castle’s Architect. It sounds like how Sir Henry would have dressed, hence the top hat and umbrella…..I hope you make it back….you will be given time to explore on your own….
i have never been but want to!!!
